Species Sensitivity: Humidity Levels for Hickory and Acacia Hardwood Floors
While maintaining recommended levels of heat and humidity is important for all hardwood, it is especially critical for species like hickory and acacia, which are more sensitive to environmental changes. For these floors, the NWFA specifies that relative humidity must remain between 30–50% at all times. If these conditions cannot be consistently achieved, alternative flooring options should be considered.
